Well, one of the guys that actually works at Procharger posted a while back on Tech about it. He said it works well IIRC.
I heard one time that it causes oil to be drawn past the seals because of high vacuum at the inlet but, he said that is not a problem. If I can find the post I'll put a link up.
What type of stress? It seems no matter what way you go the blower is still gonna be spinning the same rpms either way.
The whole purpose of the restrictor is so you can put a smaller pulley on and get more air in the lower rpms while restricting flow up top to a reasonable level. I don't think it is used to pulley up to 30psi and restrict to 15 but, more like 4-5psi difference most of the time.
I'll look for that post later today.

Ok, here is the post. I might have remembered things slightly off from what they are in the post but, it's a good read. Pay close attention to andereck. He did/does work for procharger, not sure anymore if he is still there.

I think what the guy is saying in this post is that drive losses are gonna be higher if you take the air in, compress it, then dump it over just not taking it in(restrictor). He is the procharger guy I was talking about.

I have been waiting for someone to post that guy from LS1Tech. Every time I read this I was going to look for it, then got busy reading other posts and forgot about it. With a Procharger you get the advantage of quick boost out of the hole, just not alot which allows you to run a bit smaller tire and pick up the number on the high end. With a big enough cam and head package you can also keep the boost more consistant with a Procharger. If you are getting too much boost before the shift point when you pulley down for more boost at the low end, just add more cam. Seriously though, the loss of parasitic power from turning the blower faster than you need is just a waste of power. Unless you're hitting over 15psi or so on pump gas, just use the extra boost. Tune for it.
