Default How reliable is a boosted truck?

I am thinking about getting a magnacharger or whipple for my truck, but I am concerned about how long it will last. I REALLY hope it will last for a while meaning 5+ years, my truck has 47K miles on it and I'm going to be driving 6-8k miles per year and I want to make between 480-500rwhp. And because I'm 21 and not 16, I'm going to drive it hard every now and then, but I won't go wot 5-6 times a day or anything ridiculous like that. I plan on running an FLT level 4 4l80e.

Be real. It all depends on you. How you drive and how you maintain your truck. Mine has been Magnacharged for almost 40K miles now. I drive it to work, groceries, take the wife out, etc daily. I keep my oil clean and don't drive like a retard...well most of the time

I'm with the above.... I can be made reliable, but not on a budget. If you don't take shortcuts, it can be very reliable.

On the other hand, anytime you add additional parts, you add additional potential failures.

I figured as much with the reliable part, the old saying "cheap, reliable, fast pick TWO", I'm picking fast and reliable so I know it won't be cheap. BTW, what additional parts are you talking about?

i would think with a dead on tune, good parts, and proper maintanice, it should last.

Plenty of fuel and a Sane amount of boost along with realistic driving and it will last a long time.

Mine is N/A and I go WOT all the damn time and it's really not getting annoying.

Oh I was just referring to any parts in the supercharger/turbo kit... Plus supporting mods.

And you are taking an engine that has a large safety factor built into it and reducing it. Not a huge deal though.
Unfortunately, experience shows us that the tranny and rear don't have the same safety factors...
