Results - Latest Victim of MagnaCharger - 6.2L AWD Sierra Denali TVS1900
Picked my truck up from Magnuson today.
I can sum it up in 2 words ... Bad ***!
You can find the build HERE.
After Brian gave me a nice tour of the facility and introduced a few people he handed me the keys to take a quick test drive. I was thoroughly impressed from the test drive and after I drove it from Ventura back to Phoenix I am even more impressed!
With the added power it feels like a different truck. With all that torque on tap it just keeps on pulling. During a couple of uphill sections it was "necessary" to pass a few trucks / vehicles. Hit the gas and was doing 90+ before I knew it. I am gonna have to pay a little closer attention to my speedo until I get used to it.
The minor changes made to the trans tune cured the flare on the 2-3 shift. Upshifts are smooth and predictable. Down shifts for passing are quick and precise.
I also did some monitoring on the drive and was very impressed with the IATs. They averaged about 18F with a best of 16 and a worst of 20 over ambient for the entire drive. Ambient was measured with the unit built into my truck and IATs were monitored via HPT.
Even though it took me around 2.5 hours to get out of LA stop and go traffic the total trip netted 17MPG and pure highway on cruise control @ 75 netted an average of 18.2MPG even with a number of WOT "passing" situations. The highway MPG was better than my total MPG on the drive from Portland, Or to Ventura, Ca.
Many Thanks to Magnuson for building another excellent performance product.
Special Thanks to Brian and all of the rest of the crew at Magnuson who made this build the success it is!
Darin
P.S.
While I don't normally participate in on street activities I saw a couple little sport compacts coming up from behind me who were being very annoying swerving in and out of traffic, on and off the brakes, tailgating (you get the picture) They didn't know what hit em when they tried to pass me. They definately didn't expect the truck to move like that. Think I might have pissed em off a little.
