1. 6.0 rods bend before pistons pop
2. 4.8 will hold 23psi, but dont like to be lean that high
3. After you blow the guts out at high rpm, your intake will have little tiny chunks of said 4.8 piston in there and will come back and ruin your new engine. Been a rough few weeks lately. Thought I would share.

1. Depends if you run into excessive cylinder pressure or detonation first. Detonation kills pistons and bearings, power kills rods.

2. Define hold....it wouldnt like being lean at 2psi either

3. Yes, never reuse a plastic intake, no matter how much you clean it.

Sorry about the bad luck man.

Sorry to hear man, sounds like a crappy week for ya.

#3 Happened to me when my motor was rebuilt after also going lean and in boost. Intake looked good and was cleaned and put back together and after starting up shop heard a ticking. Pulled motor back out, pull heads off and found this. Shop did awesome, took care of me and got me a new intake and head and pistons at no cost. Runs amazing now.

I am in the process of cleaning out a nice 6.0 that I reused the plastic intake on. It dinged the pistons a lil and the heads, but i shut it down and tore it down and found the metal in the intake. I hope I can get her all cleaned up and running again. I miss her terribly.

Several have told me not to reuse head gaskets, but seriously, these have 5 miles on em. probably gonna try it.

Do not reuse the gaskets if they have time or have been heated or you will just be putting new ones in again..

Someone let me know if I'm wrong but my understanding is that head gaskets are meant to be crushed and fill the tolerances between the block and head. Therefore it doesn't matter if they have 5 miles or 100,000, once they were torqued down and crushed they are done and not reusable.

I personally would rather spend the money for new ones, cheap insurance and piece of mind.
