Here's my opinion on lifters: unless you want to spend $500+ to get link bar Johnson or Morel's, stick with LS7s.

Default lifters my thoughts

not trying to start an argument . but I was just LOOKING at my engine after tear down .I had 1 lifter tray that would not hold lifter tight and that bothered me. I know you magnacharge or pro charger guys ,don't have the problem with oil get hot do to the TURBO.but I was thinking the hot oil .could be melting the tray a little changing the shape.my theory my engine was an 03 an other than number 7 cylinder the engine looked new bearing still coated and tHE other cyl looked real good .so I was thinking wear my not loosing lifter cup up.MIGHT have been the HEAT...

Pretty sure lifters are chosen based upon cam design/profile.

BTR SLR Hydraulic Roller Lifters - Brian Tooley Racing
These are the best value around if you want to go beyond factory lifters while staying on budget. Although I will agree with other that it should be according to cam specs. Replace your trays for sure. I am concerned with resent reports of bad batches of LS7 lifters although those complaints have tapered off dramatically.

GMCtrk told me the BTR lifters are no longer being made or I would get those as well.
