One of my buddies is the same way, he has built some extremely fast things, owns his own machine shop ect for the past 30 years, has had a few cars in mag's. When I asked him if he wanted to do the machine work on the 370 he asked what my goals were, after I told him my plans, he looked at me like i had 5 heads. Alot of the old school guys are not on par with the new fuel injection and lsx set ups. Hell stock ls stuff is as strong as GOOD SBC stuff.

I am running 12psi on stock stuff (late 05 lq4) with milled heads, comp is ruffly 9.8-1

An old school guy i work with runs 6.5 CR in his blown hemi with 20psi but he runs nitro methane lol. The crazy thing is it only runs one side of the block so it is a 4 cycl. He estimates it at 2000hp. Last time out at bonneville he ran 285mph is a 4400lb car.

To me stock bottom end is a stock short block. Am I crazy? Block, crank, rods and pistons= stock bottom end. Anything changed in those is a moddified bottom end in my book.

Am I wrong by most people defanition of a bottom end?

P.S. Can someone show me the lowest cost Turbo that will confortably build 10 psi on my tahoe?

I agree with that definition of bottom end. Class racers will also include stock ring gaps, stock bearing clearances, etc...literally factory stock everything.

Non-stock camshaft is still considered a stock bottom end.

I totally agree. One of my best friends has been building racecars for 30 years. I'd say he is VERY knowledgable in his field. But I don't think he knows much about these newer motors either. There is always something new to learn as long as we keep an open mind.

I ran a stock lq4 at 15psi for two years before a bad meth nozzle popped two pistons. It made 630rwhp. I think it would still be going strong if it wasn't for that damn nozzle.
