Default LPE GT 2-3 cam with turbo

Well it seems like everything is coming together for the new build...

Rex will be completing the forged 5.7L long block within a week or two and it will be getting here with a GT 2-3 cam in it.

I know it will "work" but I'm looking for something more specific to my combo.

Basically, its a forged, iron 5.7L, WCCH stage II 317 heads, truck intake, P&P TB, MP T-70 front mount turbo, 3000 PI converter, and 3.73 gears. And it'll have a 76mm turbo of some sort on it within the near future...

I have been looking into the ISKY turbo cams and have been impressed with their results, I know you don't need much duration or lift for a turbo motor...

I was looking at something in the low 220s with .560" ish lift and a 115 or higher LSA... I'm guessing I'm on the right track?

What would you run given the setup listed?

It's hard to beat the stock 204/218 LS6 cam for an all-around turbo camshaft, and LPE did it with their 207/220. Hat's off to them.

What are some of the things you like about the ISKY camshafts?

I think you could go a bit bigger on the lift... I'd call Richard at WCCH and speak to him about lift and flow of those heads...

Some of their lobes and just all around results... Stock48 runs one in his turbo 6L with great results!

I'm not going to stick an LS6 cam in this thing, no way, no how... There's better ones out there.

I've just never really been too big of a fan of off the shelf cams as they usually. Are focused towards one good thing and lack elsewhere, that's why I prefer custom grinds since you can make a cam from scratch to do exactly what you want instead of buying one off the shelf (for usually the same money) and leaving something on the table.

I had a custom grind comp 224/227 .576/.588 113+3 in my 5.3L but that cam just seemed to be a freak and work well with most everything I did, n/a, nitrous, or turbo. It made 460rwhp in my old motor on just 6psi and a conservative tune...

The GT 2-3 is only a hair bigger than the stock LS6 cam but I'm guessing valve events are what make it what it is...

I did 500 rwhp with a stock cam in a 5.3 and a STS with8 psi. Dot't waste your money on a cam.
Ran an 11.35 with a 2000 f-body cam in a 370 at 12 psi on same STS kit.
I am running a gt2-3 because someone was practically giving it away. Otherwise I would be using a zo6 cam. Ran an 11.41 @ 7.5 psi and a 10.93 @ 11 psi with a 5.7 and a t76.

Talk with rex and Richard about the heads first. They'll ask what ur goals are (holeshot, mid range, top end - DD, racer, towing), then they'll adjust valves, springs & rockers and mate them all up with proper duration cam. U can also determine if ur planning on building a race motor if u wanna go solid v roller hydraulic lifters. U can also adjust the wave pattern to account for each choice as well as that directly impacts scavenging and efficiency of the system. I'm no expert, but learned from my own mistakes...R/

Exactly, just something different...

I'm not wanting to go solid roller or anything like that, I want this truck to 60' HARD... So low and mid-range will be the focus... The power will be there up top with the turbo no problem.

Called Richard earlier and spoke to him about it, seems we were thinking the same thing as he recommended based on my setup and heads/stall/gears, he said anywhere from 220-224 on the duration and .580's lift with a 115-116 lobe sep.... With Comps Xe-R lobes...
