Ls9 HeadGasket / ARP Studs w/4.8L
#22
As you can see in the picture of the studs, I installed all the studs and then installed the bottom, aft stud into the head and slid it over the studs dropping the rear stud down into the block as it went.
To clean the block I used a copper brush and carb cleaner. For the heads i used a Nylon brush and used the copper brush only on hard to clean spots along with carb cleaner. The ARP Ultra lube says theres no need to re-torque. I'm honestly a little tired of working on it so i'm going roll it with no re-torque as well. I honestly don't feel 15-20PSI is very high and I also feel something else will fail before the ARPS/ls9 Gaskets let go. I never re-torque my talon with ARP ultra and ran 35+psi, never pushed a drop.

Also worth noting, if have the Air attachment on the left, you can try all day to clean the hole out, won't happen. I thought I had it clean 2-3 times, but once I started installing the stud I could hear the hissing. You HAVE to be able to extend into the hole or risk cracking the block.

Is there anyway to clean the holes out without air power? I don't have a compressor and I'm fixin to do a head swap myself and any tips or advice is welcome. I'm just gunna be using arp bolts not studs

Wanted to update this for my 4.8L guys and even the 5.3L guys looking to do headstuds and head gaskets. I was kind of testing the waters with this, but I've been to 20-21psi for one full 1/4 pass (slipping trans errrr) and a few 17-18psi runs, also 15psi and 50 shot for a couple 1/4 mile runs. Haven't pushed a drop. Would recommend this setup to other guys looking to push the boost past 15psi where stock gaskets/studs lift.
