Default LS9 (ZR1) Cam in a FI GEN III?

Has anyone used this in a FI GEN III 6.0L? I"m looking to upgrade from the LS6 cam to an actual FI cam. I know that on LPE they have discontinued their own cam to use the LS9. I know I'll have to change the front cover, extend the cam sensor harness, and timing chain.

What will the swap cost you including cam? If it's close to $400 then a custom FI cam would be the way to go.

160.00 for the cam
150.00 timing set
115.00 timing cover

yup - 400 and some change - who would grind me a cam to those specs or my own? I heard CompCams does.

Yes. Just give comp the cam specs on the ls9 cam and they can grind it for you. I know a few people that have done this with having them do a ls6 cam.

I think he is saying that the GM cam is way cheaper than a aftermakert cam.
comp's will run $400
and the gm one is under $200

Got my ZR1 cam conversion kit ordered from LPE today After talking to Graham @ LPE, he convinced me it was the right way to go for the 4.8.

I hope to have some dyno results next month, this month I am focused on suspension, wheels and tires.

I don't think the ZR1 cam would be much of an upgrade over your LS6 cam. Why not get Patrick G. to custom spec you a cam. It will cost you a screamin' $25. The vette in my sig has one of his cams and it's spot on. Excellent manners and 670+ at the wheels on mild boost. There are several outfits that will order you a custom Comp cam, with his specs, for well under $400. Jumping through all of those hoops and spending the same jack to end up with a ZR1 cam is a waste (unless....of course....you have "Blown" in your name and you only have 4.8L to work with......).

Because the LS9 cam is extremely similar. Not to mention way cheaper.
For a low budget cam, go LS9. Higher budget, go spec'd.
