160.00 for the cam
150.00 timing set
115.00 timing cover ...

...what? A few have done this with having them do a LS6 cam. Are u sayin Comp ground them a LS6 cam? Wouldn't a LS6 be far cheaper from the get?

boost27, even if LS9 cam is $97.04 on gmpartsdirect.com part#12605527, shippin is probably $50. anasasisxenophontis (u need a shorter name) even if LS9 cam is extremely similar to the now discontinued GT7, I don't think it's way cheaper. Obtainable GT7's might figure in here. Cam itself, yes. Other parts to make it happen, no. Unless a deal is found.
Charcold-bowtie, said it, y'all are missing some of the point that although the ls9 may be cheaper, its a gen 4 cam, so it will end up costing about the same. I agree.

I hope to have some dyno results next month, this month I am focused on suspension, wheels and tires.

There are several outfits that will order you a custom Comp cam, with his specs, for well under $400. Jumping through all of those hoops and spending the same jack to end up with a ZR1 cam is a waste (unless....of course....you have "Blown" in your name and you only have 4.8L to work with......).
And a huge budget.

Lingenfelter say's they have discontinued production of the GT-7 since there are so many similarities between the two and of course the price savings of the camshaft alone.

Dude, I gotta PM you sooner or later. You seem to have your hands in everything FI.

LS9Cam specs, 211/230/262/558/120lsa.
Under $100, makes it worth it alone.

Gt7 Is virtually identical. A used Gt7 would do fine but why not go with what Stock48 used, an Isky. Its damn sure proven! Or just start from scratch.
