Default Moving factory Air Temp Sensor possible?

When I go to a BOV and relocate my MAF I'd like to get the air temp readings from the manifold if possible.
Is the sensor part of the MAF? If so which wire is it?
If you do wire in a new air temp sensor will it throw codes on you?
Thanks.

Cool

You will not need to relocate the MAF. Just weld in a mount for the blow-off in the tube before the MAF. Unless you are planning to move the MAF for some other reason?

The IAT sensor is part of the MAF and it is connected to the Black and Tan wires in the harness to the MAF. I put one from a 97 Camaro in the intake tube just before the TB so I could measure the IAT after the methanol injection which is in the tube just after the MAF.

I want to move my MAF closer to the TB anyway so I'll be making a pipe with an adapter or threaded bung for whichever BOV I get. I figure it may help the truck respond better not being so close to a heat source when getting readings and it will be easier to pull out and clean when needed.
Do you have any pics of the intakes sensor you did on the Camaro?
It sounds like a good idea.

Cool

I used a sensor from a 97 Camaro in my truck. I did not but the sensor in a Camaro.
Sorry no pics. I drilled a hole big enough for a grommet in the intake and the sensor is just a push fit into the grommet. Here is a pic by Jerry2500 showing how he did his. I put mine in about the same location but the sensor is not threaded and I just friction fit it into a grommet with the correct size hole in the center of it and it is working great. The sensor I used is GM Part# 12160244 and the pig tail for it is #12102620. The pig tail cost more than the sensor.

Hey thanks for the info, it helps allot! I think after all the little changes I want to make I'll have a really good reliable system. Just have to plan what to do when and why so I'm not going back un-doing or fixing crap.
