Ok probably a silly question but I'm trying to get my turbo wrapped up. My vent or exhaust on my WG is currently to atmosphere has anybody added a small muffler instead of routing back in before the muffler.

I say either route it back into the exhaust for the sleeper effect or run another pipe close to how your exhaust is.

Ive seen some small lawn mower exhaust mufflers on them on tech. IMO if it bothers you, route it back into the exhaust, easy enough.

Route the waste gate exhaust threw another super small turbo and use the "suction" side as a vacuum pump......

alot of buys use a super-trapp muffler, the ones for motorcycles, and they work great and really quiet it down. no loss of power compared to an open dump and hardly any more noise than what comes through the rest of your exhaust!

What is the benefit of NOT having it in the exhaust stream?

Waste gate flow.

No muffler = no pressure (behind gate) = better pressure differential = better flowing waste gate.

My setup is also a custom built type system and my down pipe ended up on the outside of my frame rails so to get back to it would be tougher. I have everything tucked up real tight so for now I just vented it. I may just run it out and leave it. Still buttoning things up.
