Default my ice box idea

ok im doing a few things to my ss over the summer , inlcluding a 4 link and now im doing a fuel cell with an eliminator or similar pump instead of the two walbros in the stock tank. with a -10 feed and a -8 return.

anywho i was thinking of an idea on how to setup a ice box for the intercooler and have come up with this

im wanting a closed loop system at the track , intercooler to reservoir and back with the heat exchanger not used because it will actually increase water temps . but would want this to be used on the street to help cool water . so instead of using valves and moving lines i came up with this .

the left is the front of the truck .

the heat exchanger will be in the rear of the truck , i may put fans on it but it may work just fine as is . this way i can just have an off switch for the pump on heat exchanger to not use it on the track

I like it. More efficient cooling at the track where you need it, yet retains full functionality of the normal A2W loop for the street.

My Air to water with icebox works very well but after a single pass all ice is gone. I use a 5 gallon reservoir so your on the right track going bigger and bypassing heat exchanger may make ice last longer. I got tired of buying ice and just put a dual meth nozzle and IATS are in the 70s with 100 degree heat.

dry ice will be a bit on the dangerous side with the pressure it can create.

this will be a minumum of 10 gallon if not around 12 . i am debating on using aluminum or plastic .

does anyone know if coolant , and salt water could work ? i know it may be a bit corrosive but salt lowers the freezing point of water quite a bit . im also going to use a 1" line from the intercooler to the ice box to help flow and temp increase from the distance to the tank to the i/c. im trying to find some sort of insulated line to help out with that as well as finding a nice 1" size pump. the cool thing is i had my intercooler built with a 1" npt thread incase i wanted to do this eventually.

Just get 1'' black armaflex insulation. The same stuff used on A/C line sets for houses. Good stuff.
