new paxton blower kit from ecs (updated dyno numbers 1/5/08)
my 07 2500 sub was kidnapped from me for R&D and to be the test guinea pig for a truck kit from the guys who have taken over the vette community (how does 9.82 last month in a stock (bottom end, cam, heads etc) LS1 auto C5 sound? Full weight and all that stuff) I wanted a radix.....but this offer was too good to pass up. Right now this is going to be a gmt 900 based kit, but I've already heard statements that an 03 or 04 avalanche is getting everything test fit, and the next victim of R&D is an 07 Trailblazer SS so I think we'll be seeing these kits for all the platforms in due time.
Of course these are some of the earlier pictures, today's status report was its together, road tuned, strapped to the dyno and I have to go have dinner with teh inlaws now so I'm dyno'ing it tommorrow.
last nights was holy crap this 7K pig is actually fast, like car fast, like I need to get a boost gauge on this thing I'm worried I'm making too much boost fast. Starts going positive around 2K (2-3 pounds if its anything like my vette, crank pulley is the same size and the truck has a restrictor plate up top to let the boost come in quicker, but limit top end..)
Figured the masses here would be a bit interested.
Should be dyno'd tommorrow, unforunately issues with the dyno didn't allow a before number, and while the truck has been to the strip numerous times, it had a 24ft trailer on the back bumper so I never made a pass before. Being in NY with everything shut down....track times will be after the track opens in feb. Gonna try a few shiftpoints to see what works out best.

well some more info for you guys.
head unit is a novi 1500, self contained. Being that I have (had?) a warranty I didn't want to tap the pan, the novi 2000 is slightly larger, and is not self contained, thats what I run in my vette. it makes 14 pounds and doug who owns the shop snapped the boost gauge needle off on his 346 (ie. 20+ pounds capable on a small motor....and that 2000 has gone past 950 at the wheels on 402's already....big numbers you're gonna need to get into 8 rib pulleys.) I love maggies for trucks, hate them on vettes, but everyone knows well the current offerings are running out of steam on the bigger motors, there are options for more CFM here.
fuel is 60 lb motrons (same as I'm running in the vette with an external fuel system and making well past 700) and a boost a pump. (ie no tank dropping)
intercooler shows that the piping is all WITHIN the frame rails....no relocating pcms like some kits require
those are spal electric fans with their own shroud, the truck had a clutch fan. That obviously was removed.
air inlet and air box are in the same location as original.
driver's side secondary battery tray is unused. I want it for a second battery....or there's room for a methanol tank for those who want to push the limits. (if this wasn't my tow rig we were debating it, but I want simplicity)
I was a royal PITA and wanted it tuned for 87 octane (after the old tahoe requiring premium its been a joy to run cheap stuff, I can almost fill the tank on my credit card most of the time) well we tried tuning it down to 1 degree of advance and it was pure knock, so premium is necessary.
I didnt want headers, nor do I even think there are some decent ones out, but this truck was meant for towing, I just can't resist more power. So its keeping manifolds, all the exhaust is factory, convertor is staying factory, it shifts so nice and since its a big old 4L80 in there I'm gonna leave well enough alone and not even do a shift kit.
anyone out there even have an idea of what this thing would have run/dyno'd stock? I'm curious myself to see what I picked up.

I didn't even realize they offered a 2500 Sub in '07. I guess it has the 6.0L right with a 4L80E?
That is a nice setup. I like it better than the current centri setups available and know it's been proven in the 'Vette world already.
Keep us updated.

believe me I gave up on prochargers and centrifiguals years ago when I had a P1 on teh stock motor and a F1 on a built 400 in teh tahoe.....adn went simple with teh 502 and juice. Their ideas have been proven, belt slip doesn't exist (at reasonable power levels with a 6 rib, and big power levels with an 8 rib) the 8 rib belt goes onto my vette without removing anything, I just back off the manual tensioner and can get the belt on with 1 finger, and then tighten the manual tensioner back up, there's still the factory spring loaded tensioner there as well.
Search through corvette forum's C5 forced induction section and you'll quickly learn the results and the customer service are second to none. It took me about 2 years but I twisted their arm saying you guys have the knowledge, the equipment, and the reputation, you need to get out to more GM platforms beyond the vettes.
Now I'm gonna get yelled at for blowing up the top secret R&D project.
Great bunch of guys, they support the DIY'r as much as do everything all in-house.
here's a testament of what the C5 kit is capable of. This is doug's personal drag car, shipped cross country from NJ to vegas for teh silver state classic. Not only does this car run low 9's with a 346 and a blower, full weight, with a 8.50 certified cage (they build their own), he didn't even bring tools or even an extra belt!!! I said you're out of your mind.

if an evo hadn't self destructed in teh standing mile competition, this car would have been a major contender, but they limited things to a half mile and traction wasn't doug's best friend with road race tires.

Glad to see Chris and Doug getting into trucks... top notch C5 guys to say the least . Would be REALLY cool if they started hanging out on truck forums a bit ... also let them know that a couple of fella's here have figured out the 8-rib stuff (including the P/S pulley that moregrip worked with ATI on). Those crazy guys did, if I remember correctly, a one-off 10-rib on a C5. Heh, trucks wouldn't have to move the steering rack to go 10-rib
