Default O2 sensor location in front mount turbo setup, opinions

What's your opinion on O2 sensor location in a turbo setup?

This is for a front mount single turbo setup...My original plan is to put the factory narrowband sensors just after the exhaust manifolds, like they would be in the stock location, and the wideband in the downpipe about a foot after the turbine outlet.

Reasoning is that I want the NB sensors to have a similar location to stock so that they operate properly in closed loop operation.

Is this going to kill my NB sensors because of the heat?
Should I just put the NB sensors where I'm putting the WB, or will this screw up closed loop operation since they're so much further down the exhaust system?

I put my nb sensor about 1 ft. down along the dp from the turbo, pretty much where the stock location would have been. my wb is after the Down pipe. The instructions for the WB said atleast 18" away from the turbo.

Is your driver's side nb in the stock location?

I have a stock O2 sensor on the driver side (crossover pipe) near where the factory placed it on the intermediate pipe. My passenger stock O2 sensor is on the header right below the turbo. My sensors have been there for several months and 4k+ miles and still switching great. When they quit working right... I'll just throw in new ones... I figure thats part of the increased FI "maintenance". FWIW, my wide band is about 2.5' from the turbo on the downpipe. I did have it right after the turbo... but my tuner told me to change the location because he said the heat right there was hard on the WB. So, I changed it...

The Drivers side is pretty much in the stock location, just where Trick puts a bung with the kit on the hot pipes. im sure its within a couple inches of the stock location.

I've seen O2 sensors mounted upstream of the turbo melt right off... Most factory turbo applications mount the O2 after the turbine. If your sensor is before the turbo and it melts or comes apart (I've seen both happen in turbo apps) those pieces are gonna take a ride through your turbine, and those parts don't play friendly with each other.

The pressure and the heat may also skew the readings. That's the main reason for mounting the WBO2 24" down from the turbo.

Put the driverside nb in the stock location(crossover pipe) and the passenger side nb on the down pipe. Been running this way for almost three years with no problems. Just don't put both in the down pipe!
