Old 112 on a 408ci, silly?
I think my 6L is getting a little worn (compression test soon). I am looking at a used 408 (less than 1000 miles). I just want to swap short blocks and call it a day.
408 has -3cc forged pistons and a 231/239 617/624 lift 113+4 cam. I will use stock 317 heads and gaskets. So you math wizards can calulate the compression ratio for me
So will my little 112 from yester-year feed this thing at all with the cam listed above?
If it makes 6psi I will be happy. I'm making 8-9 right now with a 2.8" pulley on my GT2-3 cammed 6L.
I want more Tq than HP. I mostly use the Tahoe to pull around my 3500lb boat than race these days. I do however flog on it daily on my 3 mile communte to work. MPG is not a concern for me...

we pulled a 112 off an ssr with a high compression 408 with stock heads and healthy cam.
made 3psi with smallest charger pulley and biggest crank pulley.
pulled the charger off, put a good cam in and it runs stronger.

As I suspected. So is a M122 head unit an easy swap for the old 112? I understand it may need a few little things but overall is it a basic conversion?
I think a TVS will be more work and more $$ and before anyone asks, I'm not wanting to go turbo.
I wouldn’t have a problem milling heads to raise compression for either blower.

I doubt you will see a gain worth anything going from the 112 to the 122. Maybe 2-3psi tops.
