Default opinions for bov and wastegate for my charger

So as soon as my manifold gets here, im going to start building all of my hot pipes. I need to order a wastegate and a bov. The turbo is an s475. Only want to buy parts once. Kinda a budget kit, but dont want to buy something too cheap that is junk and wont do its job. Looking for around 8-10psi with the charger at first. So what kind of bov and WG is recommended?

Also, every single kit i see has the wastegate routed back into the exhaust. Does it have to be? Or can it just be dumped? Or is it just so its quieter?

Mine is dumped. It works better, but is much louder. I like my JGS wastgate...tial is obviously a big wastegate maker.

Curious as to why you say it works better? How loud is it underneath the truck?

I'd get a 50 or 60mm jgs and have it dumped. The bigger gate will let you go to low boost levels with that big Borg. I actually made an exhaust for my Wg so it is quieter in the cab. It's dumped right at the end of the cab

I was trying todo a little research...some even say running dual 40s is a good option. And 2 of those are cheaper than a 60. Any opinions on that?

I'll let you know in a couple weeks. Just bought a extra 40mm gate. I'm running one right now and and I'm seeing 14 psi with a 6 psi spring with the big turbo. One was fine with a little turbo AND it was dumped back into the downpipe

A 50mm BOV and WG should work. RPS is a decent BOV, and JGS is good for the WG. This is what KB sells with his kits. Going cheap on the WG could cause serious damage if it fails.

Because with it dumped, especially if it were going to be reintroduced at a 90 degree angle to the downpipe, the downpipe only has to flow what goes through the downpipe versus everything the engine flows...effectively makes it seem like a bigger downpipe.

Mine is dumped in the wheel well....its pretty loud when the gate is open....imagine a harley riding beside you.

judging by your sig, it looks like you have n s480? i bet that things raw....these s400 frame turbos on diesels make around 60psi with right fueling. So i imagine on a gas truck they are bypassing a right good amount of air especially if were running them at low boost

But i honestly think I'll probably go dual 40s on the wastegate

I work with a lot of 600-1200hp Supras and I always recommend TurboSmart products. I've used them for over 10 yrs and have never had one fail. I recommend dual RacePort BOV (52mm), realistically you'll prob only need dual HyperGates (45mm) but if you want to go bigger, you can get the Pro-Gate (50mm). The great thing about the TS wastegates is that they are physically one size smaller but flow equivalent to one size larger, meaning a 45mm is the size of a 42mm and flows as much as a 48mm.

Routing the wg into the exhaust keeps it quieter but does give slightly restricted flow at higher flow levels. An external dump will generally make more power and much more noise.
