Default over torquing heads for boost

I'm curious to the responses ill get lol...

I've got a stock 5.3L with 130K on the clock roughly. The motor has seen plenty of nitrous, and now is about to be subjected to 9psi. The motor is mechanically rock solid and holds better iol pressure than some brand new trucks and has not a single knock, tick, ping, or rattle with the exception of the valvesprings.... Should I maybe put an extra 5 lb/ft on them for insurance? Or should I install the kit and leave well enough alone... I plan on retorquing my rockers before it sees boost as well...

I ran 5 psi from 30-120K on a stock 5.3. Then swiched to a STS kit at 5 psi for about 5K before bumping it up to 8 psi. The motor lasted to 190k. Never touched the head bolts.

Ben, I wouldn't touch the stock bolt's, they are already stretched to there max holding capacity as they are TTY. I did how ever over torque my ARP studs buy 5 lbs on my built motor.

I would think youd be fine with 9psi. A gto that Baker Engineering put a turbo on starts to push coolant when its running 22+psi but it seems to do ok in the high teens.

i have been in the 15-20psi range on a couple of stock head bolt set ups without an issue.

That's what I had figured with the TTY bolts.... Just thought I'd verify.

If you're using TTY bolts, do not reuse or over torque them. If you're using aftermarket studs and gaskets, call the manufacturer. I doubt they will recommend over torquing anything, I never have with the nitrous/turbocharged engines I've been involved with.
