Bill, the quick boosting is why we went with the 62-1 .81 a/r turbos. Just change out your turbine housing to a higher a/r and your quick boosting issue should subside.
We feel the fun of the drive is more important then all out drag racing big top end hp. Which is what the 76 will do but your lag will jump a bunch for what your use to.
I think the wheels or trim is to get dialed in closer to max effort stuff. Meaning the type of turbo and a/r get you close and the wheel will refine that for more effecientcy and a few more ponnies. Which we all know is just a turn of the ****.

Bill, I'd side with Rick. Try the turbine housing first -- their < $150 I think. If that doesn't work, you can always add a stage III T31 back half (housing + wheel mod). Precision would do it, I'm sure.

I may try the 62 with a .81... and just leave the motor alone for now. Just an increase in A/R will help soften the boost hit somewhat... but the 60-1 does fall on its face at about 5200RPM. It hasn't really bothered me... but from time to time I do run it through the gears... and I'm thinking starting to take it to the track after the 80E install. I am going to fuel up a bit as well... ~46psi at 5500RPM scares me. No KR right now (14 degrees max) but the fuel pressure drop really bugs me. I have a GT35 turbo I'll sell... and once I get a new turbo I'll sell my 60-1. That should help pay for a new turbo... maybe with a ball-bearing option for giggles.
Rick, please email me a dyno graph at billreid1@***.net with a 62-1/.81 on a stock 5.3 if you have one. I'd like to see the difference.(edit)... which brings up another point. With a 4L80E and a 3200 stall is a .81 A/R a good one to start with or move up to .96?
Has anyone tried the GTK series? Specifically the 650? Thats a 66 with their new hot **** wheel...

Thanks, Bill

Go bigger Bill! 67 or 70, heard the GTK series is good stuff. If you are going to go through the hassle of putting on a bigger turbo, make it count and match it to your cubes but keep it slightly on the small side capping with a 70 something. Leave the cam alone, it's great for your cubes. Forget about the ball bearing option unless you like give away money, and if that's the case send some my way.

Bill here is one that Mark just did about month ago. 10psi with 3K stall.. Stock fan still in place as well.
Then went to an ls6 cam and pickup like 50hp.
building him a set of E-fans to get it over 500hp mark.

Thank You ... confirms the 62-1 is better by about 25-30rwhp/tq over the 60-1... and the 62-1 carries longer up top probably due to the .81 housing.

Nic, the GTK series turbos are only ballbearing... I'll also look at Turbonetics standard journal bearing T66 pricing... probably near half as much but that F1 wheel on the GTK turbo is supposed to be the cats meow.

... maybe they are not ballbearing ... with the price they command I guess I wanted to believe they were ballbearing and thought I read they were. Silly me

I really like my mpt70. I was having the same issues and it cured them. Plus it only cost 585 shipped. The other bonus is the mustang guys really like them, so if you don't care for it you can sell it quick and try something different.
