Mangled: It is not NPT i dont think. It doesnt tighten up like NPT does.
those aren't NPT threads. Can you take a pic of the female fitting on the input side of the pump? My only concern is that it may require an inverted flare which would call for no washers/o-rings. Otherwise you'll need a gasket of some type.

No teflon tape on fuel fittings! If a piece comes off & gets in system, it could create more problems than what you tried to fix in the 1st place. I'd use a teflon paste or pipe dope if u will. Just my .02.

The tape will not come off if it isn't wrapped to the point where it is exposed over the opening of the fitting..

Oring would be best IMO, the fitting is machined for an O-ring and there is a chamfer for it to fit in cut into the pump. Problem with a copper gasket, is that the treads have been machined off of the fitting for an oring, and it will be difficult to keep the copper gasket centered when you tighten it down. That's what I would use.

(PS, White Teflon tape is not fuel rated )

Really? I said gasket because I didn't see enough of a chamfer for an O-ring. But, yes the fitting is made for an O-ring. Wrong fitting for the pump? It couldn't possibly be me that is wrong, of course.
