Default Ported Blowers

Some questions,

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day about superchargers. He has a 2004 Cobra, and one of his first questions about my setup, was if I ported the blower. He has ported the blower on both cobras he had and made good power with it. I told him i've never heard of anyone porting a radix for these trucks, so there is probably nothing to gain.

Has anybody ported their blower, or does the inlet flow enough as is?

what are your guys thoughts on it?

I would hope they designed the blower to handle the airflow without needing any porting. I've never heard of any porting, but I have heard of upgrading to a 90mm J-tube and TB.

Different blower design? It is not advised to port a Radix AFAIK!

The Eaton blowers on Fords may (or may not) benefit from porting BUT I guarantee you Porting a Magnuson supercharger will be an expensive mistake.

Why you listening to a FORD guy?

It has been in question for quite some time whether the ported blowers on the Fords are really any gain at all. Not to say that a little port work can't improve something that is moving that much air, but many have seemed to disprove the theory that porting has helped at all. Porting a Magnacharger is an expensive gamble and not worth it at all. I agree fully with Brian on this. When it comes to your Magnacharger, leave the grinder on the bench.

i also agree , i wouldnt port a maggie . however a friend of mine has a 112 on his ss . lost a piston and built a higher compression 408. he still has the 112 kit just lying around so he did some porting to it. i mentioned the thought of him loosing his marbles and he said well if it works it works if it doesent well , who gives a crap . we will find out if what he did helps but its going to go on this 408 and i already thought that was a bad idea.

i remember this on the old eaton blowers.
the in port was much larger the exit port, so by doing a little mapping out, you could remove a good amount to increase the exit port size.
now the reason behind this was the blower was set for something like 4 to 5 psi and the exit port was the right size, but adding a smaller pulley to increase boost the small exit port was too restrictive.
if i remember right it was the eaton m90 that was a small triangle and a slot that was cut out to one larger triangle.
today i really cannot see how porting the lighting supercharger will add more.
it must be one of thouse butt meter things.

You have no idea.......

By opening up the discharge side of the supercharger you are messing with the dynamic sealing and timing of the rotors. Leave the blower alone.....if you decided to do it, please call me so I can sell you a VERY expensive housing.
