do the ls2 style knock sensors use the same wiring ? could we just splice them into the gen3 to 4 conversion harness? or do the electronics work differenty? seems like it might be better to try a knock sensor that was designed to work in that spot vs the ls1 style .
The LS2 sensors are "flat response" while the LS1 are "resonant". http://www.deviantmethods.com/bigmoose/pages/knock.htm

There is an option in the tune to select either style sensor, but from what I read it is not clear that the LS1 PCMs have the necessary harware and software to handle the flat response sensors. Apparently in the LS1 PCMs there is a chip dedicated to processing the knock signals. The relevant tables in the tune would all differ as well. The PCM connector has to be re-pinned.

I see that Racetronix now sells an adapter harness for using the LS2 sensors (not the LS1 relocate harness). Haven't seen where anyone has done this though.

Looks that way. This is why I did not want to max out the bore from the start.

This is interesting. These are the plugs I had in for the first 200 miles on this engine. The ones in the first post were on for the last 100 miles plus a few runs down the 1/4 mile.

You can not tell what the WOT fueling is from the end of the plug. You need to cut the threads off and look at the base of the porcelain after killing the engine after a WOT run. The one thing you can see is the oil speckles from detonation though.
