Pulleying down questions
I was planning on pulleying down to a 3.0 pulley on my radix kit from the stock 3.33 pulley. The problem is nobody in town has the correct gatorback belt, or gates belt. Autozone said they could have it here by Friday but I need it thursday as I have a dyno tune from allen nelson at 3pm. I am planning on calling around in San Antonio in the morning to see if anybody up there has it. Does anybody know if I can use the stock belt that came with the kit without slippage at WOT? If not does anybody have a used 110.5" gatorback or gates belt for a 6.0 and 3.0" pulley they are willing to part with and overnight? I just need to knock this out before thursday. Are as as installing the pulley, you just take the belt off, and get a strap wrench and break it loose and use a 3 jaw pulley puller to get the stock pulley off and slide the new one on and torque to 45 ftlbs correct? Thanks for the help guys,
Sam

I tried everywhere when I needed one and nobody had one. Then I remembered there was a Goodyear shop like 5mins from me. Try and locate a Goodyear service center, If they don't have one they can get one in a couple hours.

Stock belt will probably work fine but, switching belts now might be better than having to deal with belt slip issues while tunning. We all know Dyno time isn't cheap.

You're supposed to change belts when you change pulleys? I thought that's what the adjustable idler pulley was for. Now I wonder if my belt is slipping because I went from a 3.4 to a 2.9 the other day...

Yeah, thats what I have read on here. Most everytime you change pulleys you gotta change belts. I ended up running up to San Antonio yesterday to an autozone on commerce st and I got me the gator back belt. I got everything all swapped yesterday and the new belt on ready for my tune today. Here is a good thread on what belts go with what size pulleys. This is for the radix on chevys by the way: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...3B+pulley+belt
