I installed Aeromotive 340 pump, reused my in tank regulator, and 70lb injectors. I didnt install a new line from the tank to the rail yet, I wanna see how my fuel situation is currently first before I decide if/what needs to be replaced next.

Well it was an interesting day at the dyno. I had a new driveshaft made because I know stock ones fail. I got one from a local guy that builds them for dirt track guys and drag cars all the time so I wasnt worried about it. I gave him all my specs and he built me my custom shaft to my needs. Well at 4400 rpm in 4th gear on the dyno this happened...

Anyways. Before the 4th gear pull here is the printout of one of the 3rd gear pulls. Max power of 443 @ about 5700 rpm.

The shaft failed at 4400rpm at 462 tq in 4th gear. I ended up just putting a stock shaft back on and after mine flying off earlier we didnt do another 4th gear pull. Following the same curve of the previous 3 runs it would have made about 470hp/465tq. My 70lb injectors were running about 64%. Thats a solid 35hp increase over 91 octane and meth. I didnt get on it too hard on the way home cuz I was paranoid of throwing another shaft lol, but it pulls damn hard at 50mph+ especially around 70

WOT in 4th gear, on a dyno. I see alot of things wrong here.
Nice numbers, nice gains. Glad nobody got hurt. Dyno operator should have known better. Hopefully you didn't hurt your transmission.
Nevermind, please read post #18. Thanks and have a nice day!

Transmission tail housing is fine, nothing else seems out of wack after driving it 2 hrs home thankfully. Just dented up my Corsa muffler but missed my fuel tank. Im just pissed, I SPECIFICALLY got a custom shaft to keep this exact thing from happening. Cant wait to go talk to my drive shaft builder on Monday. It was decently thick Chromoly shaft btw.

EDIT: Just noticed your truck has a 5 speed, not a 4L60E. So your 4th gear is 1:1 ratio, you weren't in overdrive smoking your 3-4 clutch pack(you don't have one...) and putting your driveline well past a reasonable critical speed. I also take back what I said about the dyno operator. ![Happy](https://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
If your "built driveline" was built correctly, you would not have had this trouble. Curious to hear what he'll have to say about it. Keep us posted please.

decently thick chromoly? way to heavy for performance TRUCK. need large diameter thick wall ALUMINUM or in your case i would recommend ordering a metal matrix shaft, i think thats what its called. dirt track and drag CARS use a much shorter and lighter shaft so chromoly wouldnt be an issue. your truck has a much longer shaft so critical speed comes in to play sooner. good luck with another shaft. hope its right this time. you really came out lucky this time

How did you get your measurements for the new shaft? Truck needs to be sitting at ride height with wheels on the ground. Should only be a short shaft, too, so extra length shouldn't be a problem. Kinda looks to me that it bent before it broke, strange.
