Default rear mount turbo stand alone oil system

any body thought about building something like this to stop having to worry about your pump going bad and screw up your motor? maybe just a 1-2 quart sump and a pump.

Ya I have but, you would still need a oil pump of some sort and a cooler for the oil. I think it would be a cool project but it sounds too heavy IMO.

I have thought about it too, but just havent had the chance to give it a try.
I'm thinking you would need 2 pumps; feed and return. You could incorporate some kind of cooler, but on a rear mount, I dont think it would be that much of an issue since you dont have the engine to heat the oil.
I am putting a turbo in the bed of my '92 and was thinking about a nice polished oil tank with 2 pumps. Not sure when I will start that project though.

if you could make the tank just a little lower than the return on the turbo then you would only need one pump.

That is what I was thinking, I would bet you would need a cooler with the high temps the turbo runs.

but in the back it shouldn't be that hot and if you put the tank like in the framerail and finned the outside edge like a heat sink it would probably do the job i think.

How much oil do you need????

Im doing custom rear twins on a 03 silvy....

I was thinking about putting a nice box under the truck, with a pump taking it to the turbos, and a pump pulling it out... But just recycling the oil back into the tank....

How would that work??

that idea is nice. but does the oil out of the turbo come out with pressure so no pump would be needed if the tank is lower like u guys said or would their be a risk of it cloggin up?

A filter of some type would be needed for the system. Just a thought.

you make the returnline big so the oil can come back together. i guess it tends to bubble up alittle. i've seen returns line like 1/2" or bigger. put the tank lower than the turbo so it will gravity drain like a front mount. and put the filter infront of the pump after the tank so the pump pulls good clean oil. shouldn't need but 1-2 quarts i would think. they don't need much oil. as long as the tank is under the truck just put some heat sinks on it( like an amp has for reffrence) that should keep it cool enough.
