remote mount turbo questions
Ive been thinking about putting a t76 on my 5.3 and have been thinking about underhood options. It seems to be a big pain in the *** to fabricate and get all the parts to work well under the hood then you have added temps less space etc..
So is it possible to buy an sts kit and use a different turbo then the ones they offer, is it even plausible Id be worried about problems with lag.
Do the remote mounted turbos stand up to underhood setups why should I choose one over the other?

STS offer a couple of upgrades for turbo in there kits. The argument over which is better has been beaten to death here and on Ls1tech. I really like my STS. The only down side I have with mine is where I live there is a lot of back roads that are gravel and with just a K/N filter it gets dirty pretty quick. I have to clean it about ever 2-3 months. I talked to Shad at STS and told me if I put there snorkel kit on it that all the new kits come with that it would put the air cleaner up in the finder well and would stay clean longer.

They offer the GT67 upgrade, which by far a better turbo than the old school T70. Nothing says you can't put a 76 on there though, but I'd go real conservative on the ex. A/R with a 5.3. Personally, I'd love to large rear mounts, I'm really curious as to how they'd do.
They do sell a kit minus the turbo and wastegate. Most dealers will sell them around 3K.

I think in time you will see some fast STS kits , they haven't been out that long.

why dont u just do a custom remote mount setup?
i think that'd be cheaper than doing an underhood setup.
i think the $450 i spent on this cam/spring/pushrod could cover 1/2 the $$$ for a custom remote mount setup if u got a friend that can weld or something.
twin 14b's off a 1g dsm, basic fmic, vortech fmu, and a bov, and misc vac lines/gauges etc. wouldnt cost much more than $1k...and its twin turbo...SMALL twin turbo but twins none the less

my goal is 11's and I have a truck that weighs around 1000lbs more
assuming a vehicle weight of around 5800 lbs and an et of 7.5 in the 1/8 I will need between 600-700 rwhp I havent seen any dyno's of an sts kit putting out that much.
I worry about a large turbo on that kit no one seems to have done it.
