Our local turbo guru swears by these BW's!

We are planning on a pair of BW's on another LS powered play toy of ours.

Ok guys,

I have a few more questions that I really need to get some answers and opinions..
Which turbine size would be best for moderate spool time 83mm on a 1.00-1.25 A/R or 87mm on a 1.10 A/R ? and what kind of spool time am I looking at with those options?

I went and talked to a local guy that is freakishly smart when it comes to turbo stuff and he says the S480 even with the smaller turbine wheel would be too much for a 408.

Thanks
Kody

An S480 is meant to be on a tractor-trailer under a large duty cycle for hours on end, pushing 20-30psi constantly. So they are designed for that: efficiency at 20-30psi. Are you planning on running that much boost on a 408..? I doubt it. BWs are actually better suited for smaller engines in high HP applications because higher boost levels put them closer to the peak of their efficiency. Take a look at the compressor map if you want to check it out.

For your power goals, just stick with the 83mm turbine wheel.

Well I am not really sure what I am looking at when I look at the maps.

Really?? Guess I should tell that to my little 346 cuz it sure liked the S480. I'm gonna try and get some dyno time to test all 3 turbos I have for my truck (Magnum 72bb .81 a/r, TC76bb .96 a/r, S480 83mm/1.0 a/r T4) at 15psi and see what I like the best. 90% sure the S480 will be staying on.

Yeah I know that's what I told him but he was dead set on it not working.

How was the bottom end on your set up? This is going in a 2500 that will eventually get 35's but I plan on re-gearing.

Thanks

You need to get a new guru!! Here are some vids and this is with the bigger 1.10 a/r T6 housing.

70mph highway roll on just to show it will make 7psi at 22-2300 rpm...

A quick 9psi from a 10mph roll in first.

A 6psi 4x4 boosted launch with a 0-100 run in about 7 sec at 10-11 psi

Guess it just won't work!!!

Yeah. The guy ia very smart but I think he has numbers and info twisted!

I think I am definitely going to be using the S480 with the 83mm turbine 1.0 housing.

The only thing is I don't see the 1.10 t6 housing? I am just seeing something?

I can get them for ya, PM me what you've found and I'll see if I can price match it.
