single vs twin discussion
I've been thinking about this for a while so now I'm going to put up some questions and my thoughts. I thought it would be a good discussion topic.
lets set some parameters on this topic though to make things more equal.
Assuming both the single and the twins (together) are capable of 1300hp (round number for big size turbo) and the "twice the stuff to buy" does not apply. talking just the spool time and power per boost if any difference.
Is there really going to be a benefit of the twins over the single. when you consider the turbine wheels of the twins come out to be bigger per side than the single. 96mm being fed with both banks vs. 65-68mm being fed with just one side of the motor. some people may say the wheel of the smaller turbo is lighter but does the wheels of both turbos add up to be less then that of the single?
of course you could get a smaller housing but then your limiting the turbine flow of the twins therefore limiting the VE of the engine at higher power levels.
these are just random things I've thought of when trying to decide my next move. I am still leaning toward the s480 vs. twins myself.

I've got twin turbo's sitting on a shelf, waiting for me to get enough money to start the build...but getting 2 turbos, even brand new, that are perfect twins is hard to do. It's even worse if you are buying used.
It's easier and cheaper to build a good setup for one turbo, than to try and deal with the logistics and price of two. I could easily spend more on 2 quality BOVs than I did on the rest of the setup.

This thread is gonna go crazy. Twin turbo setup or a single setup will work great if you know how to choose your parts wisely. My vote goes for that S480 though. Results show that its a amazing turbo.
