Stainless will crack before mild steel. Mild steel is more malleable but does not retain hear as well as stainless, hence why stainless is good for exhaust applications. Aluminized steel is a happy medium between corrosion resistance and cost. Use whatever your budget allows.

I would def do it out of stainless if your budget / fab skillz allow .
Like said stainless holds the heat better than carbon steel and holds up wayy longer . But make sure to use a good grade , the best to use IMO would be 316 schedule 10 , and it's not gonna crack .But it's pricey but would last forever . It's what I'll fab my kit out of .

Looking into gathering material for my cross over and down pipe as well. If I build it to my truck/on my truck do I need flex pipe in cross over and WG pipe? Im thinking aluminized steel 16g to start. Can always upgrade to stainless. Don't mean to thread jack.
