TWINCHARGED BABY
I with ya- if you're gonna blow it up, blow it up big!! But IMO, 12, 15 or 20psi, dead on tune or not, I'd save my money for the forged motor you'll soon be needing.

A friend of mine was running 14psi with his 112 Radix on his 5.3L. It took a 2.70" pulley to do so and was doing a great job of making hot air, but it survived fine. This is a Joe Gibbs version at that. He has since swapped to a 6.0L, but the 5.3L was still running fine.

I ran 12 psi at 10.1:1 on stock parts. No intercooler -- meth only. No sweat, I just pulled timing.

Even so, 10-16psi is a biiiig jump to make.

I hate it when the "how many psi" questions come up. Its not a function of psi, but of proper tuning, fueling, power output and rpms.

One really poor designed setup can make 20psi yet yield only 400hp, while another only reads 12psi and tops 600hp. Which one is stressing motor more?

Ok back to topic,
I got an aswer to my question, what gives in first if you up the boost to much in a stock 5,3 engine. Thanks for the picture!

The pistons are failing due to combustion pressure, and not due to pinging/knock.

I agree with that 100%. Cylinder pressure is more important than intake manifold pressure.

Seeing 20psi daily is a lot more taxing than once a week or twice a month.

Either way, your tune has to be dead on ***** accurate.

I might have to disagree with that. I have been running 13 psi without an intercooler and a Snow Meth Kit since September of 2005 in a 6000# shoebox. I drive my Av every single day, pull my 6000# boat, and have a 4' x 4' bedbox I take to plant shut downs out of state. I tune with HP Tuners and take great care in watching my AFR. BTW, I run 23* timing at WOT and pull 0-60mph times in the 5 second range in a 4wd lead sled.

All of this on a stock bottom end, .589" lift, and stage 2 heads.... 500+ rwhp..

The secret to running boost is the tune......
