stock 5.3 with valve springs running thru a power robbing th400 and loose converter without lock up. not saying it will live forever at this level but if it can take it for any length of time at all it should be good for a long time at a little less hp.

Parish8,

Any idea as to the timing on that run? (at 19-20psi)
I would have bet good money the stock GM pistons would have broke under the pressure regardless of how good the tune was.
No meth?

I want to know AFR at that level of boost along with timing.....

and unless I am reading wrong, that was on stock pistons.......

the valve covers were pulled to swap springs and that is the only work that has been done to the engine. no meth. strait 118 octane fuel. 16deg of timing, we tried more but it didn't seem to want it so we took it back out. here is a chart with a little more info.

Nice AFR.. that's what I target..11.2 to 11.4.....

I am surprised on the timing though.... My truck feels like a dog at 16-18 degrees on pump gas (93 Octane)..... 22-23* seems to be the sweet spot on my logs... guess I need to get this thing back on a dyno to look at the actual curve.... last time I was on a dyno was Feb. 2006 after the head/cam swap....

I also agree on the spring swap... I bumped shifts to 5800 on stock springs and saw a bit of valve float... added the stage 2 heads and dual springs that issue went away...

Hey Parrish

One last question if you don't mind. You say no meth... were you monitoring IAT's on that pull?

Just trying to rectify the timing issue..

Thanks

remember this run is on a dynojet so a prety short pull. in the 6sec pull the iats went from 97deg up to 123deg. on the track we will probably start with a little lower iat and we will have lots of air being pushed thru the intercooler but the run will be at least 10sec long so not sure what the iat's will be at the end of the run.

That's what is kicking me in the ***... those IAT's are what I am seeing now that I installed the aftercooler..... a WOT pull through about 120 mph nets me about 127-129* IAT's...... maybe it is the meth that is wanting the additional timing.....

I'm inclined to agree with you. My logs from the track 2 weeks ago were showing 21 deg of timing on the top even after a 1-2 deg IAT pull. The IAT was in the high 120's, 10 psi of boost and a 60 shot of nitrous. There was no audible detonation and no signs of KR in the log.
