Still in mock-up and already thinking about upgrading
Hey guys, I'm putting together a '84 chevy truck with a 6.0 engine and a BW S475 turbo. It's a race only build. I have a '05 lq4 engine, going with forged rods and pistons, 317 heads, edelbrock intake and blow through carb. I have a 4k stall convertor in front of a th400. It has a ford 9" with 4.30 gears ( for now) and 32 inch tall slicks. It weighs 3400# with me in it. The problem is, that I have a new S475 turbo, but found a Turbonetics 101mm thumper with ceramic bearings for less than a grand. It only has 30 1/8 mile passes on it. I don't have the a/r on it yet, and it has a small turbine housing. They went with a precision 106mm. Problem is, I'm not sure if it's going to be over kill or not. I'm not looking to break any records with this thing, just a week end warrior type of toy. I'd eventually like to run the 5.80 index in the 1/8 mile with it.
So what do you guys think? Can the S475 get me to 5.80? Will the thumper be too big? I'm thinking with the small turbine housing, 4k stall, two step and trans brake, I could possibly get it to spool. Any and all opinions are appreciated. Thanks.

I've gone 6.90's and 10.90's in the same truck with an old Buick big block engine. I'm going blow through because I have the carb and hat already. I also have a front mount dist. set up for it. I'm keeping with the old school type tuning ( with the help of a afr gauge). Any ideas if the S475 can run the number?

That thumper turbo is a big ****. I think too big for ur project. We did a 94mm thumper on a 408 and it's not the quickest at spool up but t pulls forever once it does. We r swapping out the turbine with somthing smaller to get boost to come in sooner; and that's on a 408.
