Default Stock 6l80 vs stock 4l80

Is the 4l80 stronger then the 6l80 in stock form? I have been running my stock 6l80 for a couple years at 12psi and it's on its way out. Thinking of swapping to a 4l80 if they are stronger already. I don't see any reason to spend big money on a built 4l80 if it lasts me a few years the way I drive. Also what is needed to convert? Thanks for any help.

I have never put it on a dyno so no telling. Engine is hurt so I'm going to put a stock 5.3 with triple 12 cam and twin turbos. I can see myself pushing to 600-700 hp. I know the 4l80 has superior aftermarket support but just in stock form wondering if it is stronger. If not I won't go through the time and expense of converting. I'll slap another 6l80 in it. Every transmission builder just recommends there top of the line transmission and I think that is way overkill if the factory 6 made it this long.

I just had mine built. They basically converted it to a 6l90, added clutches and made valve body upgrades. It skip shifts super fast now and will go from 6th locked to 3 in about a tenth of a second. Seems to handle the power better so far, I have about 4K miles on it so far and I like it. Converter choice was a bitch bc I still tow with my truck, so I went with a closer to stock stall single disk billet unit. I would build my 6l80 and roll on, the parts are out there to fix issues now and so is the knowledge...

TUNER for the 6L series transmission is critical. Circle D flat out tells you their warranty is only valid if one of their suggested tuners works on the trans tune.

Where do they have a list of suggested tuners?
