Stock manifolds, can they be cut & welded?

I've thought of that too... I need to find me a real cheap set somewhere... it might be stronger too cuz thats the manifold that'll hold most of the turbo weight, although I think im gonna make a brace for it too.

Default Welded manifold

I welded a v-band flange on my manifold as well, but have not service tested it yet. I made the flange the same thickness as the mainifold. I did about the same as everyone else did. Beveled the edge, preheated with a map gas torch, tig welded with a 309 rod, and let it cool slowly.

I was just looking at making some changes to my hot pipes and looked for the shorties as well. Cheapest I could find was at Summit for $200. All the ebay ones are stainless.

Thanks. Kyle (KBRacing) deserves all the credit though. He did the hot pipes for me. I just did the stock manifold.

There's a very long article on tech about it, Lots of input and good looking welds.

this, these manifolds are made from alot better material than old school mainfolds. guys have decent sucess with just grinding down a V and using a MIG.
