I'm bout to step into the dark side, buttoning up some things, but my ?

How much boost can the stock MAP take, and when to step up to the 2 bar map...

btw, I'm running the 2002 6.0 truck engine with stock EVERYTHING, except stock tune!

Thanks

Ill get back to this question once I get home and have time to type it all out. How much boost do you plan to run? Technically the stock MAP will not read any boost, however it will still work. What setup do you plan to run?

If you're not going to exceed the limits of the MAF sensor, you don't really need to step up to a 2 bar tune. Once you do exceed the MAF limits though (which I just barely did with 8psi on my 6.0L) you'll need another way to compensate for the extra airflow...that's when a 2bar SD tune comes in. You can always do it before then if you want to, it's really up to you. The stock MAP sensor is designed to read vacuum only.

Default Maf

I'm going to push this 6.0, so I may run out of MAF, I'm not sure, we'll see.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to creep my way up to 9 to 10psi (intercooled and meth injection), so yeah, point me in the right direction, 2 or 3 bar MAP?

2 bar will be good up to about 15 psi. 3 bar will be good up to about 29 psi.

There is a direct replacement 2 bar available, hopefully someone will chime in with a part number or vehicle. I can't remember what it's off of. If you go 3 bar you will have to run a vac/boost line to it and mount it somewhere else.

I don't mean to thread jack...

But I have the stock MAP sensor with my D1-SC and 60 lb injectors on 12 psi. It seems to be working fine...should I be switching to a 2 BAR and if I do a 2 BAR it would be SD, correct? Sorry for the question...still trying to learn this stuff.

Quick Reply: stock map? When to get 2 bar?
