Default Stock Valve Springs With Boost?

Are you guys running stock valve springs with boost? I'm looking to run 10 pounds on a 5.3. Thanks!

Yes, most people running stock cams with boost are running stock springs. If you go to an aftermarket cam though, you would have to go with different springs. I am running the LPE GT2-3 cam with LS6 springs.

High rpm with high boost you will run into valve float but otherwise no need to switch...

I did with my 5.3, but was in the process of building my 365 to replace it, so I wasn't too worried. If it wasn't a disposable engine, I wod have put some cheap ls6 springs in to be safe. $50 a set is easy insurance.

I agree ^^ if your competent enough to change them. I used ls6's in my boosted 4.8 with a z06 cam with no regrets

I ran stock springs/cam with my Procharger to 10lbs of boost with no problems. Once I switched to a turbo setup, my tuner didn't want to tune it until I upgraded the springs. He has ran into valve float numerous times with turbo kits. He said you see it on the dyno when HP starts dropping off too early in the RPM range.

For what your spending on a turbo kit, $150 springs and a simple afternoon install is pretty cheap insurance.
