Default Sts Gt67

I have made a deal with greentahoe. I am going to pick it up in one week. I am getting a sts gt67 kit , intercooler, lq4 with 317 heads. I have done a lot of reading and searching on these kits and you guys seem to help and really support each other. I need to order some injectors and a fuel pump. Any advice on mods will be helpful. Really looking forward to some boost.

I have a set of 43 lb injectors that I will be selling when I get them out of the truck. Asking 250.00 plus shipping.

How much boost are you planning to run? You can probably get away with a single Walbro Gss340 (or other 255lph in tank)

Will that gss340 fit in my sending unit? Are 43# injectors enough to feed a 67? I forgot to mention I will be looking for a tuner for the initial tune. I don't know how much boost i'll run. Its my DD so its gotta stay safe. Thanks

We need to know this to answer fuel questions with any certainty. For under 10-12psi, those injectors will be fine.

Yes. the GSS340 will fit in the carrier. Two will as well, with some modifications.

As far as the tune goes....you can go to Dixie Tuning or ST-Performance(In Savannah) and they do a pretty good job there and they do dynotunes. Also a few places in Jacksonville too that does dyno tunes. And there is always Nelson.

You will be OK with 43lbers for a bit, unless you really plan on cranking up the boost which it doesnt sound like from our talk. They should feed a conservative 7-8lbs fine. Any more and you will need more injector for sure. Forgot to ask if you want the catless Y and cam?? PM me if you dont remember the deal with them. Is the 04 returnless?? If yes go with the magnacharger intank otherwise go for a walbro inline.

I don't see going over 8or 9 psi. I am not wanting to build an engine now. I might run the turbo kit on my 5.3 and put some time in the 6.0. I figure this will leave less down time. feel free to lend any advice. I know there are some of you on here with a wealth of knowledge. I'd love to hear a post that starts off; " If I were doin it over , I'd do ........."

Recap. Used gt67 sts kit
lq4 / 317 heads
turbo cam

Still need; tune, fuel pump, injectors, valve springs, oil pump. And the stuff I know I am forgetting.

Thanks again and keep the info coming.

The main worry about injectors and turbos is how rapidly you move beyond the supported hp range of the injector. I've had: 43's,60's,75's and just bought 95's... I really wish I had gone: 43s (while the motor was stock) -> 95s like some people told me to do, but...

At 8-9psi, you're in the 43 lber range for sure. At .65 BSFC and an 80% injector duty cycle, 43 (rated at 43.5psi) injectors net you about 500 flywheel hp. Admittedly, .65 BSFC is on the high end - mine was .59 as calculated from the last dyno numbers. Using .6 for BSFC gets you closer to 550 flywheel. As long as you are happy in that range (which is sounds like you will be) you've got the right injectors.

On my base kit with the stock 6.0L LQ9 (GT67 at 10psi) I was making around 580 flywheel.

One other thing I wish I'd done differently: Not get a little freaky about the costs towards the end of the engine build and skimp on the oil pump, cam bearings and lifters (all stock ).
