[QUOTE=Mort]Thanks TG02Z71. That looks like a good little vent filter. I am going to check around for one. You got room for more stuff in there yet.

I see you mounted your boost control under the hood. Looks like a good place for it.

Yup, it works out well there, at least its out of the elements.

Here is a link to a filter too.

Same thing here. The Dodge would ooze a little under high boost ( 7psi+ ) but when my pistons broke it was a complete shower! The oil return line in the oil cap was right next to the vent tube so most of the oil was from the turbo line.
Compression check might not do the trick, a leakdown test would show it best. Just compare the results to the other cylinders for differences instead of the raw static compression value.
You would likely find the spark plug gap closed where the loose piston pieces hit it. This would be causing your misfires. Start at the rear of the engine or the #7 cylinder, it seems to be the weakest in the link for problems.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

If you don't get the ground on the crankcase vent pump installed correctly, you'll pressurize the crankcase all the time... You will spray a lot of oil on your hood as described above, and will eventually blow the dipstick out (it has an o-ring to keep it in the tube - eventually you will work it loose pressurizing the crankcase). First thing to check is to make sure the ground wire from the sts harness is grounding the vent pump (i.e. attached to one of the bolts that holds the pump to the manifold).

Those crankcase vent filters can be picked up at just about any Harley or Custom bike shop for around $7-8 bucks .

I know i use one just like that on my chop to vent my S&S113 .

I dont even have that STS thing that has the little "breather" like thing on it. I dont have a pcv valve either. I grinded it off and just run the lines to a catch can like breather. works good.

i had the same problem, it blew oil out and caught fire on my exhaust manifold burning 1 of my spark plug wires. that sucked, i burned my hand and ruined my shirt trying to put it out. make sure to degrease your motor if you have oil spillage. i unplugged the vac hose from the manifold to the back of the solenoid valve, no more oil probs but im gonna call dave south at sts and have him trouble shoot it over the phone, i want everything to be hooked the way it should be.

The hemi truck STS kit has nothing regarding the venting. Why do the chevy designs have that? I only get some blowage after an 8psi run of all three gears or multiple back to back high boost short spurts. I never get blowby in low boost.

I tested the hobb switch and that works, just the solenoid valve doesn't reposition. So I am just running it vented to atmosphere with the hobb switch still sensing boost so it kicks my oil pump to high. I have tried calling STS for 3 days and no answer. Left two messages 2 days ago, no return call. Kinda pissing me off. At least I can drive the truck like this. I am not even sure if I want a new solenoid valve, it would probably just fail again later and **** me off again.

im in the same boat with leaving it vent to the atmosphere, those guys are hard to get ahold of sometimes, but dave is very helpful when you can get ahold of him, let us know how it turns out, ive been running mine this way for 6 months with no problems, but i still want it right, i guess only this happens on some of the 04 trucks cause of the different pcv system. good luck.
