STS mud/water/snow proofing???
I'm thinking about doing a STS kit on my 05 Z71 regular cab. My only concern is the fact that I use my truck from a time to time and I find that mud/water/snow finds it's way on my truck without my intentions of doing so. I know hot objects don't respond well to having cold liquids splashed on it. Would it be practical to try to mount it in the bed? It seems I will run into this problem no matter what turbo I run with unless I mount it in the damn passenger's seat Any advice for the not strictly pavement pounding turbo truck?

Do a search on STS cover, as this topic has been discussed a fair bit. Your concern is the concern of many. One idea I have heard is to fabricate a housing around the air intake to prevent sucking up the water splash etc. Plus I understand that socks can be put over the air intake to minimize water intake.
Edit, here is a good link to the pros and cons from a few years back.
https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...s-cons-355692/
In it, they talk of a snorkel kit if you wish to relocate the air intake. Have not been to the STS site for a while so not sure if it is still available.
Edit, went to their site, they have a snorkel kit and an air filter cover as well

Good luck.

Oh the suction of water is not my concern and I read the pros/cons page, I'm worried about the turbo housing itself getting water or mud splashed on it. I wouldn't want it cracking on me

I have an STS turbo kit all I can say is good luck I was thuroly disappointed there tech department sucks suck sucks and there tuner Richard who the tech staff later told me it was Richard squires himself was no real help at tuning I finally took my truck to get dyne tuned at Flacos performance in Houston. I've sin Ed blew that engine and now built a fully forged 5.3 running 15 psi boost much happier but no the less STS sucks so be ware

I'm looking at a few kits but no matter what I do, I have my own tuner and I wouldn't even try to run something somebody sent me from far away. My tuner is Abel racing here in Okc which is only 15 miles from my house. I would only be using the parts and nothing more
