STS PCV Switch valve necessary?

STS PCV Switch valve necessary?
After lots of searching around here I need someone to help me with a conclusive answer to this question. I am also waiting for Vernon Hills from STS to get back to me on this problem.
My situation is this, oil leaking somewhere( i think its this pcv switch valve) and running off the engine and dripping on the exhaust under the truck. I found out that I dont have the check valve style PCV but rather the 3/8" orfice and I know i need to get that fixed. But my question is, Is the switch valve really needed?
I temporarily set up a catch can off of the vent on the switch valve to catch the oil coming out of that, however it is still leaking out somewhere else. Also, the oil coming out of the switch valve is very milky, where could the moisture be coming from?
Another thing is that I've had a misfire for some time and I feel like I have a bad piston.
FYI: I'm currently at school for a couple more weeks so I can't get a leak down test performed till I get home.
Any help is greatly appreciated thanks guys!

I don't think its necessary perse, but if you're sure it's hooked up properly and it's still pressurizing the crank case, then you might've leaned out the old #7 cylinder and toasted some rings. I had the same thing happen to me and I tried everything. I cursed STS and the stupid solenoid valve and everything. I come to find out while doing a cam swap that might #7 cylinder had a ton of blow by. I've since installed a crank evac kit and everything's fine, but the damage has been done.
First things first though: Ditch the orifice PCV and get a check valve style PCV valve. Report back if the problem persists.

It feels constant. I know for sure I have it at idle, and I get some vibrations at low RPM. Not to mention the CEL is on most of the time and sometimes off. When I check my diablo it says random/multiple misfire.
And what did you use for the evac kit?

FWIW I used the Mr. Gasket crank evac kit.

Don't want to get this topic off track but where did you set up your exhaust evac from?? After the turbo I'm thinking?
johnrusso1987, my set up did and still does the same thing. Pressurizing the crankcase and barfing oil out where ever it comes out easiest I guess.

Well I've changed the oil after this started happening and there was nothing on the magnet, but the farther i get with this situation the more pissed i get thinking that I cooked it.
So ehh next question: whos got the cheapest forged pistons?
And what other goodies should I look into?
