How do you keep the filter dry?

My filters are way up in my wheel well at the end of a 4" tube.

Hey, I Live in Nor Cal, in the Winter it rains a lot, but the turbo keeps on chuggn. The pipes do rust though. What i did was powder coat all my pipes. It works Really well. Actually it raises the exhaust temps which increase velocity (anything helps). They sell a good product that I've used on my driveshaft and parts that I didn't powderoat called Rust Doctor. It Chemically changes the rust and makes the rusty or metal surface paintable by makin the surface into a primer. As far as the Salt and Snow, the other fellas can help you out.

I live in central NJ and we get our share of rain/snow/salt.

You can't see the turbo unless you lay under the truck, on my Dodge anyway, so the rust doesn't matter.

Keeping the filter dry is another thing. Most have relocated them up higher or even in the bed. They use a flex pipe like in those pics.

TG, where did you get the hose from?

I don't have any experiences with snow and salt, but this year is has been the wetest monsoon season in AZ's recorded history. I've had no issues in the rain and I drove 12 miles in the worst storm we've had in 23 years. I have the filter attached to the turbo. I checked my intake tubing to see if there was any water in there, and it was bone dry. I think if you don't submerge it (duh?) and you don't get into boost in the rain, you'll be alright with the water aspect.

As for salt, I'd be more worried about it corroding and eating my truck's body and frame than some easily replacable tubing.

McMastercarr, but if you do a search for dust collection fittings and equipment you come up with a lot of useful stuff from woodworking suppliers as well.
The hose I got is some tough stuff for sure. You will need the wire hose clamps because the standard flat hose clamps don't workk or seal properly.

I had the original STS which is a 3" inlet, and I had heard of issues with the provided filter when it got dirty or the sock cover got dirty and figured it would be cheap insurance to run two.
Why just throw out the STS filter when I can run a 3" and a 4" inlet filter and never worry about restriction.
I just want my system to be everyday lazy man friendly.
The less crap I have to deal with, the more like a stocker with extra power it will be.
I know its somewhat overkill but what the hell, the parts were cheap.
