i don't agree or disagree.
the sts kit can make the same power as a front mount that costs almost 2k more, its supposed to lower engine temps by moving it to the back.
but the downfall of this is that it used a smal oil return pump. which if it goes out , can mess your turbo up, and there may be more lag with the turbo being in the back
its not showeing injectors(300) or a fuel pump(150) , wideband(200), the extra piping (50-75), BOV(300) intercooler(100-300). then extra stuff that you will run into
so that1700 turns into 2800+.. which is close to a KB racing kit

KB racing kit? do you have a link to that, never heard of them, i just got into the how turbo truckin scene, lol, but if that kits that much i might check that out, if you can succesfully turbo this truck for around 2700 then plus a tune, thats a dam good deal

Don't forget you need the charge pipes, which for a rear mount run the entire length of the truck (plus bends). $50 is way too small of an estimate for pipe.
Plus, all your time fabbing and welding (plus welding supplies).
Do you have a MiG/TiG already? Can you weld?

Don't Do IT!!! I have all the fabbing eqiptment, and did what you did. Bad Idea. Just go ahead and but the kit for the truck, it'll save alot of time, effort, frustration, and probably money in the end

WE have a set of low mount pipes for sell, that will allow you to get that set up move the turbo clsoe to the front but still under the truck. Then you just need the rest of the items that are mentioned.

Even so, I'd still not do it I built my own custom rear TT kit -- you won't save any money (unless your friend also donates all the welding materials, etc., as well as the time and shop and all you need to do is buy pipe). Especially if you factor in your time.
However, if you want to do it because you want the experience of building your own kit, then do it, but do mess with the kit at all...
