Stumped about one of the turbo exhaust manifold nuts
I don't think I've ever made such a rudimentary post, but I'm completely mystified as to how I need to tighten the front/ inner turbo stud nut. The nut takes a 17mm / 11/16" wrench. I even loosened the turbine to compressor junction to possibly allow more room and it seems absurdly difficult. I spent at least 30 mins trying to get the nut on and the rear inner stud I actually had to cut down a bit as it was hitting the exhaust housing.

I was thinking maybe I need smaller flange nuts like those in this treadstone kit:

Also the rear inner stud needed to be trimmed a 1/4" to clear the turbine housing.
Are these symptoms of the Master Power turbo or just the name of the turbocharging game?

Just apart of it.
Call me or email me when you have questions.
Like about that oil gasket.
The rear inner stud you just needed to flip it over and install the long end first.
Also the Borg large frame T4 turbo you need to flip rear stud as well. Front is easier to get to. Small turbos in a tight area.

I like the idea of drilling and tapping the turbine housing for a small head 3/8" bolt and then drilling out the manifold as well. Then i can do away with that 4th stud and turbo R&R will be 5 mins instead of an hour+.

Your welcome.
You will screw the rear inner stud long end in. Not all the way.
Install the turbo. Then screw that stud down where there's the nits thickness plus a thread or two showing.
When you tighten the nut if it's to long. It will screw down into the manifold.
The front drill method in front inner bolt.
You just drill the manifold out. Won't take much. To get a 3/8" bolt slips through. Then just use a bolt and nut.
Have you tried a crows foot?
