Default supercharged 6.0L build questions (what year motor should i get)

i am seeking some words of wisdom about a 6.0 swap i am planing in my 02 silvy. i am at a tech school (UNOH if you have heard of it) so i will be learning about engine machining and so on so i would like to build up a solid motor for the truck in those classes.

now on to the actual questions, i am looking for the best block to start with and want to make shore i have the right year, i know that in 2004 they started changing things around with the css and the connecting rods, and i have heard that pre 01 cranks are not ideal, with a supercharger in my plans i know i want the lower comprehension of the lq4 pistons and the ls2 rods but with my truck being an 02 i dont know about the crank sensor, basically if you have any insight on what will work and what will be the strongest way to go, also will stock pistons hold up to like 10-15 psi boost and water meth injection and maybe a 100 shot

what i was thinking was get a pre 2004 complete lq4 then get a set of 05+ rods and pistons, but im not shore if it would be simpler to get a 05+ motor and swap sensor and reluctor wheel or if my computer can be tuned to use the newer sensor

there are so many changes over the years and i dont want to waist time and money

Hey man! Hows it goin out in Lima? !!

Anyway i would get an 03 -up 6.0, if your going to use it as a project might as well find a high mile one and save some cash, since miles are nothing to an LSx engine.

Most guys will say 04 and up are the best bet, mines an 03 LQ4 and its been awesome.

I run a 07 classic body LQ4 in my 2000 GMC. No sheet metal had to be removed. Plug n play.

LQ4's are all the same, crankwise, they didn't ever up the amount of teeth on the crank, I had an 07 LQ4 and it was the same. You want an '05-'07 LQ4... GREAT motors, STOCK48 is pushing over 1000rwhp on stock internals.

after a little more reasearch i found out that the reluctor wheel stayed the same till mid 2007, others on here where saying that from 1999-2006 they had the lower number and from 08+ they had the newer sensor, that or 07 didnt use a cranc sensor that year lol, i guess my only concern now is if the 04 lq4 i am looking at has the ls2 rods or not,

thanks guys for the help but i guess my questions where out there already answered

so do you guys think stock pistons will hold up?

Everyone I've talked to says the LS2 rods started in '05, But I myself have wondered if they didn't start in '04.5... I know the shorter style head bolts started in '04.5....
