Default supercharger coolant

I am finishing up my build and starting to research coolant for the lsa blower. Lots of info on it, I have read quit a bit over on ctsv forum. It seems running straight distilled water and water wetter is the best choice and best conductor of heat when you get the science of it all. However if you live where it freezes this is not a so so option kind of. My thought is why dont people run distilled and water wetter during the summer then switch to dexcool in winter? Is it just a pain to change it yearly, its not like distilled water is expensive. I dont mind running dexcool and distilled all year but if the other option cools better it might be worth it in the summer. I am going to have to spend time winterizing it anyways since it runs e85.

Because it costs money to do that and also it is a lot of work.

Personally, just run the dex.

I did that for a bit but having to bled it sucks so I just run a 70% water to coolant mix with water wetter added. It rarely gets below 25 here and it is just for a few hours so hard freezes aren’t common.

This is probably about right for West TX as well. I always used to run a 70/30 to 75/25 mix when I lived in the South.

I am up in the panhandle so I will have to run at least 50/50 is my guess.

You could maybe squeak by with a 70/30 mix or 60/40.

Just don't be like me and run straight water and then forget you did that so now all your freeze plugs popped out.

Did I just say that out loud?

Distilled and water wetter here in FL. The once or twice a year it actually freezes here, a small space heater on low under the hood with the cover on does the trick to keep everything liquid as the truck sits outside under a carport. The KB IC is very inefficient so I need all the heat transferability I can get from the coolant.
