Default In-tank pump for '01 silverado

Sometime in the future I would like to get into FI, maybe a single turbo or maggie. In the next couple weeks I will be dropping the rear 4" and likely taking the bed off to install the drop hangers. I figure why not install a new pump while I'm at it and give myself some more motivation for FI.

What's a good, affordable, stock upgrade pump that will work for FI? I had a Racetronix in my Z28, no problems with it. Will a Walbro 255 suffice? My FI goals will be moderate, keeping the cammed 5.3L looking for around 500rwhp.

Thanks for your input!

Does the wire kit make enough of a difference? I did it on the Z28.

Its more of a safety feature than performance. Your not going to notice extra power, but you won't have to worry about the stock harness failing or giving your pump issues due to insufficient wire size. That being said, the majority don't use it. If I had it to do over I probably would.

What kind of power can I expect from a single Walbro 255 before having to add another or larger pump? I would like to upgrade once and then not worry about it.

Good info guys. One more question, is my truck a return or return-less style? Benefits of switching from one to the other?
