Like I said before its the one thing I'm not happy with in this combo. I wanted very near stock idle quality and I have more of a race truck sound. Its cool if that's what you want but I have to shut the truck off so I can be heard at the drive thru.

I had a 236/230 at one point and hated it as well.

My truck was down for 3 months. I'm not ready to dive back in and swap out the cam and go for another retune. So for now I will live with it. But I'm still very unhappy with Tick's recommendation.

Get something around a 220/220 on a 116 or 117 and it will drive like stock. My 226/226 117 on my 402 sounded and drove like stock. Your cam has 2.5 degrees of overlap, and my old one had -4. My current one has 1.75 degrees of overlap and it is definitely pickier than the old one. Less overlap makes for a much smoother engine, and is also more forgiving with a high backpressure turbo setup at the expensive of some high rpm power.

My opinion is turbo's dont really care that much about cams. As long as the turbo is getting exhaust its going to do its thing, and max power will most likely be limited by the compressor wheel before anything else. Obviously at what RPM this happens has to do with the cam, but power wise I wouldnt sweat much about cams in mild turbo setups. Get a cam that will drive how you want it and the turbo will take care of the rest

I'm all cammed out right now. I don't even want to think about it. Let me get some use of this truck under my belt and I'll see if the wheels start turning in my head over winter. LOL

I think my so called buddy liked it to much and helped himself with the good old 5 finger discount. LOL Thanks again for all your help Rick. I love your new one piece SS Turbo manifold. I also agree with what you said about cam choice.

HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE 4TH EVERYONE

Whew...Hate to see a bad cam in an otherwise sweet setup. The beauty of f/i is that you don't have to use a stupid big cam to make stupid big power. Somebody needs their pp spanked
