well currently i have a d1 procharger set up with a stock block minus a cam kit that im very happy with but as you all know its never enough so i have my heart set on a f1r with a cog set up that i em ready to pull the trigger on in the next day or two. i was talking to a friend of mine when he put the idea of a big single turbo in my head and now im confused lol .... i will be upgrading to a 408 short block soon. i think it will be cheaper to do a big turbo as to going with a f1r with a cog set up that is going to cost me around 5k. i think i can get a nice big turbo for around 1500-2k and have a friend fab me up the hot pipes and stuff . my goal is to be around the 1k hp mark when all said and done, i would guess im around 650-700 mark now.
i know this is going to be a very bias question but what do you guys think would be the best route and why? if turbo what one would you recommend , maybe a possible link to said turbo.

I have nothing against prochargers, but when you have to start using 10-12 rib drives or cog belts it really hurts the driveability (Loud. Ever heard a cog drive in person?) and starts to get expensive. With that in mind, with a turbo setup if you want more power just crank up the boost with a **** or change a spring (within reason).
Now if you like want to stick with a procharger, an F1r will definately get you there....but so will a big single and it will drive like stock.

I had them both. The F1 is a great supercharger but for me it was way to loud for a daily driver with the cog. I like to be able to cruise @80mph and talk on my cell (hands free of course) . The turbo is not as snappy as the Procharger but it comes on pretty quick. But when that MF comes on, its what every SC guy wants. Full TQ at lower rpms, to move our have *** GM vehicles. Plus I'm not crazy about all the other mods needed to compliment the SC. I'll choose a more quite and powerful Turbo setup over a SC any day.

I am pushing my little BW 80mm close to the 1000rwhp mark now and spool is great (look up some of my threads where I posted videos). I will probably go to the bigger 82 or 88 with the 96mm turbine at some point, but thats another day

Just remember, if you go front mount you will have to change some things from your PC setup. HOWEVER, most of the stuff you will need to change can be sold and put towards the turbo stuff.
Like Atomic said, Id look into something in the 80-88mm range. Especially if you plan on going 408.

If this is going to be a weekend warrior, then I would go with at least a PT88. They have a long and proven history of making great power. If your looking for a more updated Turbo, then look into a billet wheel Turbo. Any which way you will easily make 1000 HP with a 408.
