I have a yank sc3000. Most people don't even notice the higher stall unless I power brake it. The good converters don't feel loose when driving normal.

PI Vig triple disc here. Lots of miles, lots of abuse. No problems. I think I paid around $850 for it but that was 4 years ago. Making 470/500.
I expect it to hold up to the 600 or so I should be making after my tune. I tow with it as well

I'd call Circle-D and get something about 2-400 RPM looser than stock, multi disk is a must also at your power level, especially being daily driven. A 258mm converter would be right up your alley

I found a good low mile 4L80 at my preferred salvage yard. Adding a Transgo HD2 shift kit and I'm going to use the stock converter (looks brand new) and see how long it lasts. I've been through several trannies in 100K miles, but don't think I've ever smoked a converter. Just couldn't justify spending big money on a converter for similar to stock stall speeds. Thanks for your opinions. We'll see how it does....

I am running a FTI 10.5" single clutch billet converter. It flashes ~3600 at the track but is much tighter on the street than other comparable stalls I have had. Greg @ FTI is a good guy to work with. Give him a call if you are considering an aftermarket converter.

stock has held for me! building a billet stock version as i type! smaller with more clutches is not allways the best route, esp when you have some big power stacked into something with big weight topping it!

You won't need a huge stall with all that torque. I'm guessing I'm making around 550hp and my Circle D 2600 triple disk is perfect. It's 20 lbs lighter than stock and is a pleasure to drive in town. The clutch locks up solidly. I wouldn't want anything different.
