Turbo 5.3 cyl head options
I'm building up a '01 RCSB with Trick's non-intercooled MPT70 turbo kit. Will be adding meth and/or FMIC. Going to run a 224/224 .566/.566 115 lsa cam, 4L80E, 3600 Yank, 4.10 gears, etc...
I currently have two options for heads. I have the stock 862's and a set of 317's. Whichever set I choose will be getting milled. So, should I run the stock 862's that seem to be working great for most turbo guys? Or should I mill a good bit off the 317's to keep my compression up and take advantage of the increased flow?
BTW, I'll be running LS9 gaskets and ARP's.

I've seen guys take stock 5.3 heads and push 700+ on a turbo 5.3
obviously they're doing something right. I don't see why the 317's wouldn't help also but i would go with whats been proven and the stock 862's work just fine with PSI...
Hope that helps

Really it all depends on what you want out of the setup. Are you shooting for all out power? If so then lower the compression a little and throw better heads on and turn the boost up. If you are wanting more streetability then keep the compression up and keep the stock heads as these will both help with out of boost power and overall torque.
